I. Proposal Overview

 

This proposal aims to provide an efficient, safe, and modular integrated solution for a HIPOW welding workstation. The workstation is specifically designed to control occupational hazards such as fumes and arc light generated during the welding process. Its core objective is to create a clean working environment for the operator that complies with occupational health and safety standards while enhancing operational efficiency. The workstation employs a scientifically designed ventilation and dust removal system, combined with an ergonomic and safety-focused structure, making it an essential professional piece of equipment for modern welding workshops.

 

II. Workstation Structure and Specifications

 

1. Main Work Enclosure:

* Dimensions: Internal clear space is 3.0 meters long × 3.0 meters wide × 2.8 meters high, providing ample space for welding operations and workpiece handling.

* Design: Utilizes a combined modular design for easy transportation, installation, and potential future layout adjustments or expansions.

* Wall Material: Uses 5CM thick fire-resistant panels as the core sealing and insulation material, offering excellent fire resistance, smoke containment, and structural stability.

* Access Door: Equipped with a large sliding door for smooth operation and space efficiency. The door features a high-strength transparent observation window, allowing for safe external monitoring and inspection while minimizing fume escape from frequent door openings.

* Lighting System: Internally integrated explosion-proof LED lighting system provides uniform and ample illumination, meeting the visual requirements for precision welding. Its explosion-proof characteristics ensure absolute safety in environments where welding sparks or flammable gases may be present.

 

III. Fume Purification System Working Principle and Calculations

 

The core of this system lies in effectively controlling welding fumes through source capture.

 

1.  Capture Design:

* Two rectangular side-draft fume extraction arms are installed on the top of the workstation, serving as the primary fume capture devices. Each extraction arm measures 1.2 meters long × 0.6 meters wide.

* The hot fumes generated by welding naturally rise due to thermal updraft and are effectively captured by the extraction arms positioned above the work area.

 

2. Airflow Calculation:

* Face Velocity per Extraction Arm: The design requires an average face velocity at the hood opening ≥ 1.0 meters/second.

* Airflow per Extraction Arm: Q₁ = Hood Opening Area × Velocity = (1.2m × 0.6m) × 1.0m/s = 0.72 m³/s = 2592 m³/h.

* Total Theoretical Airflow: For two extraction arms, Q_total_theoretical = 2592 m³/h × 2 = 5184 m³/h.

* System Design Airflow: Considering factors like duct friction loss, elbow losses, gradual filter clogging, and potential minor leaks (e.g., door gaps), a safety margin of approximately 30% is required.

* Design Total Airflow Q_design = Q_total_theoretical × (1 + 30%) = 5184 m³/h × 1.3 ≈ 6740 m³/h.

* Accordingly, an industrial-grade fume purifier with a rated processing capacity not less than 6740 m³/h needs to be selected for this system.

 

3. System Process:

Welding fumes → Captured by top extraction arms → Transported via high-temperature resistant, anti-static ducting → Enter the fume purifier located beside the workstation → Undergo multi-stage filtration (typically including spark arrestor, pre-filter, high-efficiency cartridge filter, etc.) → Cleaned air is exhausted indoors or recirculated externally. External placement of the purifier facilitates maintenance and reduces indoor noise.
